A disciplined bowling performance by the Guyana Amazon Warriors, led by left-arm spinner Veerasammy Permaul’s 3 for 32, helped them win their opening match of the inaugural Caribbean Premier League against Trinidad & Tobago Red Steel by 19 runs in Providence.T&T won the toss and put Guyana in to bat, but they couldn’t contain the Guyanese openers Lendl Simmons and Martin Guptill who added 74 runs for the first wicket. The partnership was eventually broken by Samuel Badree when he got Guptill leg before for 32.With the score at 102 for 2, Simmons had helped Guyana set a platform for a big finish. T&T captain Dwayne Bravo, however, thwarted those plans with two wickets in the 16th over, accounting for Simmons (42) and Christopher Barnwell, who fell for a second ball-duck. Narsingh Deonarine was dismissed in the next over to leave Guyana at 106 for 5. Late fireworks from Ramnaresh Sarwan, who struck 21 off 12 balls, and James Franklin, who scored a 20-ball 26, ensured Guyana reached a competitive total of 155 for 5.T&T’s innings started steadily, as the openers had added 28 runs before Hafeez fell in the sixth over. Justin Guillen (22) and Darren Bravo (23) got starts, but were unable to guide the chase. Permaul, who came in to bowl in the ninth over, had immediate success, dismissing Davy Jacobs off the sixth ball of his first over. Ross Taylor’s dismissal in Permaul’s next over had T&T struggling at 50 for 3, with 106 needed off 57 balls.Wicketkeeper Nicolas Pooran, blitzed a 24-ball 54, which included six sixes, to keep T&T’s chase alive. But the wickets of Darren and Dwayne Bravo increased the pressure on Pooran and he perished in the 18th over, holing out to Mohammad Hafeez near long-off. T&T finished their innings at 136 for 9, 19 runs short of the target.

Brendon McCullum is not the sort to shirk a challenge so when New Zealand’s wicketkeeper, BJ Watling, was ruled out of the second Test at Headingley because of injury, he wasted little time in deciding to take up the gloves that he supposedly relinquished for good in Test cricket nearly three years ago.McCullum kept for part of England’s second innings at Lord’s – without pads on day three – after Watling injured his left knee attempting to run out Joe Root with a dive. These days at Headingley, the temptation to rely on pace bowling alone should be resisted because the pitches can show extremes of character and are just as likely to go flat if the clouds lift. Adil Rashid, the Yorkshire legspinner, took five wickets in the second match of the season at Headingley, so it should not automatically be assumed that a spinner has no role here.”Brendon’s back has been playing up a bit, but he is going to grit his teeth and do a job for the team, that’s just the sort of guy that Brendon is,” Wagner said. “There is going to be quite a bit of running up and down because he likes to talk to the bowlers about plans but having the opportunity maybe to have Dan at mid-on and mid-off and pick his brains and pass on messages will be pretty awesome.”It’s exciting seeing Dan around the changing room and training with us again. That will at least stop the England fans wondering – as they have for the past three months – why nobody is clobbering him down the ground.Vettori, veteran of 112 Tests, bowled for half-an-hour, had a bat against some throw-downs and took some high catches on a middling Leeds morning, dry and largely overcast. Mike Hesson, New Zealand’s coach, then rejected requests to speak to him, leaving the bowling coach, Shane Bond, to indicate that Vettori himself would be trusted to make the call on his fitness.”He’s the sort of guy who will know whether he can do it or not,” Bond said. “He’s got that experience and he knows how he’s going physically. Either way I’m sure the right decision will be made.”Vettori’s last Test came against West Indies in Antigua last July. After an inactive time in the IPL, even a long-haul flight from New Zealand could not disguise the feeling that he was itching to play again.Vettori would join an attack that has come close to breaking England’s batting on several occasions over the four Tests stretching back to March, something Wagner takes comfort from.”We have come close a couple of times so it has been a bit frustrating for us as a bowling unit,” he said. “At Lord’s we got ourselves into a perfect position and then two guys came out with serious class and bowled unbelievably well.”Jonny Bairstow at the moment is trying to find his feet a bit. Nick Compton played a bit of a rash shot in the first innings after showing a bit of patience. Matt Prior hasn’t got a run in two innings. There is stuff we can thrive on.”

Mas o time da casa tropeçava em seus erros e via o Glorioso ameaçar. Alex Santana chegou a balançar a rede, mas o gol foi anulado por falta em Rafael.

Impetuoso, o Alvinegro não demorou a comprovar sua vantagem. Após lançamento de Carli, Kieza desviou de cabeça e encontrou Erik livre para balançar a rede aos 23. E, aos 41, Rodrigo Pimpão cruzou para Jonathan marcar o terceiro.

Um ‘9’ altruísta
Kieza foi crucial para o Botafogo, mesmo sem deixar o seu. O camisa 9 iniciou a jogada do primeiro gol e deu passe para Erik fazer o segundo. O atacante lutou muito.

Carlos Alberto… e cartão!
Vendo que o Botafogo cadenciava a partida, o técnico Eduardo Allax promoveu a estreia da nova estrela do elenco do Verdão de Saquarema: Carlos Alberto. O camisa 19 logo recebeu cartão amarelo ao trombar com o goleiro Gatito Fernández, mas chegou a ameaçar em finalização.

Boas perspectivas?
No adeus da Taça Guanabara, o Botafogo deixa a Zé Ricardo um leve alento. O ímpeto de Alex Santana e Rodrigo Pimpão, além de mais investidas pelas pontas, mostram que a equipe pode reagir já na Taça Rio. Shivnarine Chanderpaul and Mushfiqur Rahim paved the way with quick-fire half centuries before Elton Chigumbura brought out the crucial blows to complete the victory.The seventh win in nine games all but confirmed their qualification in the last four while Rangpur slide further down the pecking order.With 29 runs required from the last three overs, Chigumbura hammered Murad Khan for two sixes off the last ball of the 18th over which cost 17. It left the Royals to take 12 off 12 balls which was brought down further by yet another clubbed six by Chigumbura which leveled the scores and left a comfortable finish.Most of the credit, however, goes to Chanderpaul who drove and hacked the ball to hit six boundaries and two sixes in his 29-ball 51. He and Paul Stirling added 48 for the first wicket but Stirling’s dismissal in the fifth over didn’t deter Chanderpaul as he and Mushfiqur took the score to 75 off the Powerplay.The second wicket pair added 45 before Mushfiqur added another 46 for the fourth wicket with Nazmul Hossain Milon. The Bangladesh captain struck five fours and two sixes and was the real impetus as he brought down the asking rate to a manageable region for the Royals. The target fast came within reach and, as soon as Chigumbura joined Mominul Haque at the crease, it was always going to be Royals’ game to lose.The chase overshadowed Shamsur Rahman’s unbeaten 98 as the Riders opener completed his fifth half century in the tournament. He struck eight sixes in his 50-ball innings but could not quite reach three figures after he gained just a single ball in the final over. Shamsur faced just nine balls in the last five overs after reaching 90 at the end of the 15th over.It was a stunning knock from Shamsur, peppering the leg-side boundary with flicked, pulled and slog-swept sixes while also using the straight boundary on two occasions. But it would not count for anything as the limitations of the Riders bowling attack were exposed quite badly.

وقال لوريس في تصريحاته إلى قناة سكاي سبورتس: “إنه أمر محرج للغاية، يجب أن نعتذر للجماهير، لم نظهر وجهًا جيدًا ولم نتمكن من مضاهاة أداء لاعبي نيوكاسل”.

وأضاف: “تأخرنا في كل شيء، وافتقدنا الشوط الأول من المباراة تمامًا، الشوط الثاني قصة مختلفة لكنها مؤلمة حقًا”.

وتابع الفرنسي: “الأمر لا يتعلق حتى بالتكتيكات، لم نتمكن من القتال وتأخرنا، أعتقد أن نيوكاسل قدم للتو أداءً رائعًا، لقد كانوا عدوانيين وهجوميين للغاية في كل مكان استحوذوا فيه على الكرة”.

وأردف لوريس: “من الصعب في الوقت الحالي تقييم الأداء ولكن كان هناك نقص في الفخر، يمكنك أن تتلقى لكمة مرة أو مرتين، لكن كان الأمر كما لو أننا لم نتمكن حتى من الرد أو الارتداد”.

وأكد حارس مرمى توتنهام: “يستحق نيوكاسل الكثير من الإشادة، كانوا يعرفون بالضبط ما يجب عليهم فعله”.

وواصل لوريس: “يمكننا أن نحاول إيجاد الأعذار وتحليل الأداء ولكن أول شيء هو أننا نفتقد القتالية، في كرة القدم، إذا ذهبت إلى أرض الملعب دون الرغبة في إظهار العدوانية، فإنك تصعب الأمور للغاية”.

وأشار: “لقد كانت فوضى بعض الشيء في الملعب، لا يمكننا إخفاء أنفسنا وراء مشاكل النادي، فنحن محترفون ولكن اليوم كان هناك الكثير من النقص، كان هناك اختلافات في المستوى بين نيوكاسل وتوتنهام، لدينا مباراتان صعبان للغاية للعودة بهما في الجولات المقبلة (أمام مانشستر يونايتد وليفربول)”.

وأتم لوريس بشأن استبداله بعد نهاية الشوط الأول: “إصابتي لا تبدو جيدة، لا أعرف ما إذا كانت عضلية ولكن حول الورك عندما ركلت الكرة، لا يبدو ذلك جيدًا”. أهداف مباراة توتنهام ونيوكاسل في الدوري الإنجليزي

O segundo tempo começou com as duas equipes ainda se acostumando às mudanças, mas, aos 13, Jhonata. Os visitantes ainda tiveram nova chance, com Da Silva, que desviou de cabeça e a bola pegou no travessão, no chão e não entrou.

Em busca da igualdade, o Fluminense foi com tudo para cima, mas o Grêmio conseguiu se segurar e saiu de campo com a vitória.
