Manchester United fans are growing impatient with drawn out Wan-Bissaka transfer

[ad_pod ]

Manchester United are still in the hunt for Aaron Wan-Bissaka but fans don’t understand why the deal hasn’t been completed already.

The Daily Mail reported on Saturday that United officials have been locked in talks with Crystal Palace recently in an effort to secure a deal for the full-back.

Could United be in the hunt for an £85m blockbuster signing this summer? Check out the video below…

The paper reckon that the Old Trafford side are on the brink of concluding a £42.5m deal that will have significant add-ons attached.

Wan-Bissaka had a breakthrough year at Palace last season, making 35 Premier League appearances, impressing with his athletic and ambitious forward play as well as his robust defending – only Wilfred Ndidi and Idrissa Gueye made more successful tackles than him in the top flight in 2018/19.

With Ole Gunnar Solskjaer hoping to usher in a new successful era at Old Trafford, the 21-year-old has the potential to breathe new life into the Red Devils’ play on the right flank.

Man United fans don’t understand why the transfer pursuit has turned into something of an extended saga, taking to Twitter this weekend to share their thoughts on the report…

Jacob Bruun Larsen can reach potential with Jurgen Klopp reunion at Liverpool

This article is part of Football FanCast’s Transfer Focus series, which provides opinion and analysis on recent transfer news…

Liverpool are interested in signing Borussia Dortmund talent Jacob Bruun Larsen this summer, according to The Sun.

What’s the story?

Fresh from their UEFA Champions League triumph, the Reds shouldn’t stand still this summer with important challenges ahead domestically and in Europe again next term.

The target will likely be winning the English Premier League and additions are needed to freshen up Jurgen Klopp’s successful squad.

One player they are looking at, say The Sun, is Dortmund youngster Larsen, who made a first-team breakthrough at the Bundesliga outfit last season.

The paper reckon that they are fighting it out with rivals Manchester United and Arsenal for his signature, but that Klopp maintains strong contacts with his former club – potentially giving them an advantage.

The report states that the 20-year-old signed for the German giants back in 2015 when Klopp was still in charge, signing him from under the noses of the interested Everton.

“It reminds me of a bus seat!” – Watch a damning verdict on Chelsea’s new kit in the video below…

Where would he fit in at Liverpool?

Larsen plays on the left wing and with Sadio Mane in imperious form on that flank last season, there’s likely little scope for him to be first-choice for the Reds.

His senior experience is limited, having made just 32 appearances for Dormund, scoring three and assisting four. Not exactly numbers that suggest he is ready to be relied upon in the first-team on a consistent basis.

Taking up a role as Mane’s understudy is viable though and he has a prolific record at youth level that would suggest he may be able to produce the goods eventually. He scored 36 times and assisted 31 times in just 49 appearances for the club’s U19s side after being signed during the Klopp days.

Still just 20 years of age, if Liverpool take a long-term view of the player and gradually expose him to Premier League football as he learns from exciting wide players such as Mane and Mohamed Salah, the Reds could be on to a winner.

Spurs fans bemused by latest Ndombele update

[ad_pod ]Tottenham Hotspur fans are growing tired of updates surrounding the club’s pursuit of Lyon midfielder Tanguy Ndombele.A Football.London report claims that the France international could be announced as a Spurs player by the end of this month or the beginning of next. The report claims that the club are confident of securing a deal to sign the 22-year-old, who has emerged as one of the best central midfielders in Europe in recent seasons.Indeed, he made 49 appearances in all competitions in 2018/19, scoring three goals and providing eight assists.Ndombele has also been linked with the likes of Manchester City and Barcelona but he has previously outlined his own willingness to move to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.Watch Tottenham Hotspur Live Streams With StreamFootball.tv Below

Nevertheless, the club’s supporters want to hear concrete updates as they look forward to their first signing since January 2018, when Lucas Moura arrived from PSG, rather than what appears to be constant procrastination.

How embarrassing: The one stat that sums up Alexis Sanchez’s woeful United career

[ad_pod ]

Throughout the entirety of the 38-game Premier League campaign, from the first week right up until the last, Manchester United have paid Alexis Sanchez a basic salary of £15,600,000; he earns a weekly wage of £400,000-a-week before bonuses.

In that time, the Chilean forward has scored just a single league goal. One.

For those of you who wouldn’t count maths as one of your strong points, that equates to £15,600,000 a goal for the 30-year-old. What an utterly ludicrous waste of money.

Will OGS still be in charge of Man Utd come next May? The Flying Pig discusses in the video below…

The former Arsenal man’s struggles have been well documented since he arrived at Old Trafford, along with his astronomical wages, but one stat that emerged after Cardiff recorded a shock 2-0 win on the final day makes for particularly painful reading.

Nathaniel Mendez-Laing, the Bluebirds’ hero on the day with two goals, managed to double Sanchez’s goal tally at Old Trafford for the entire campaign in the space of one game – the Englishman’s brace means he is just one goal away from Sanchez’s total at the stadium since signing from Arsenal.

Other players to score more goals at Old Trafford than Sanchez this season include Lucas Moura, whilst the likes of Jan Valery, Shkodran Mustafi, Jack Marriot and Aboubakar Kamara have equalled the former Udinese man’s tally.

It can very easily be argued that Sanchez is the worst signing in the club’s entire history.

Since stepping foot through the doors at Old Trafford on the 22nd January 2018 up until the current day, United have paid £27,200,000 to Sanchez excluding bonuses, and have gotten a measly five goals in return – a whole £5,440,000 per strike.

Away from his obvious on-pitch troubles, Sanchez’s earning have caused hierarchical chaos at the club, making contract talks with David de Gea extremely difficult due to the Spaniard wanting to be paid the same as the club’s top earner.

His earnings have also led to the departure of fan favourite Ander Herrera, who was demanding in excess of £200,000-a-week during negotiations over a new contract, a strange thing to do considering he was previously on £80,000-a-week – probably because Sanchez earns £400,000-a-week and arguably does the least out of any member of the squad.

Worst signing in United’s history? He’s got to be up there.

Portsmouth: Craig MacGillivray is proving to be one of signings of the season

If Portsmouth are to thank anyone for their recent result against Sunderland, it’s goalkeeper Craig MacGillivray.

The shot-stopper kept out a fearless Sunderland side that could have got away from the game with all three points, but MacGillivray’s heroics ensured the result remained at 1-1 and in doing so has set Portsmouth up for an exciting finale to their League One season.

Pompey could potentially find themselves in an automatic promotion spot if they win their final two games of the season as well as results going their way on the final day of the season, and if Kenny Jackett’s side are to achieve this incredible feat, he can have MacGillivray to thank for it.

The 26-year-old ‘keeper joined Portsmouth last summer from Shrewsbury, and although MacGillivray had only played 33 times over the span of four years, the Scotsman was selected as Pompey’s number one keeper for the start of the season, and Jackett’s gamble has paid off.

MacGillivray has been one of Pompey’s best players this season, playing every minute in the league so far and keeping 11 clean sheets along the way.

The former Harrogate Town custodian was also the hero during the EFL Trophy penalty shoot-out when the Scottish shot-stopper saved Lee Cattermole’s spot-kick as Portsmouth won their first piece of domestic cup silverware since the 2008 FA Cup final 5-4 on penalties.

MacGillivray’s contribution to Portsmouth this season has exceeded what many thought he would be capable of this season, but his impact has been one of the biggest in the team so far, and if Pompey are to return to the Championship it will be on the back of the ‘keeper’s important performances.

Portsmouth fans, has MacGillivray been the signing of the season? Let us know!

Liverpool: Xherdan Shaqiri must rise up in final games to save Anfield career

The good thing for Xherdan Shaqiri is that he’s quickly reaching his peak.

The bad thing is it collides with Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane’s best form.

Indeed, despite his decent contribution, Shaqiri is seemingly yet to properly win over Jurgen Klopp. Now is his time to do so.

The 27-year-old has two matches remaining to prove himself worthy of a place in this world-class team. Making only his third substitute appearance in the last 10 Premier League matches, the Swiss magician finally bore fruit to help Liverpool keep their title flame alive.

Indeed, his sumptuous free-kick was too menacing to defend for Newcastle United. The inspired moment proved how dangerous his left-foot can be. As Mohamed Salah could be sidelined after being stretched off at St. James Park, Shaqiri could finally get his moment of fame.

There’s surely a good chance he starts in both remaining games against Barcelona and Wolves. While winning either the Champions League or Premier League looks bleak, Shaqiri needs to perform at his best in order to save his career. Like he did against the Magpies, he needs to put in inviting crosses for Sadio Mane, using his creativity to light up Anfield.

Despite his inspired substitute performances, there are no guarantees Shaqiri gets many chances next season. Ryan Kent will return and the competition will get stronger.

Unless he can influence Liverpool into retaining their sizzling attacking style in Salah and Firmino’s absence, it could be the end of the line at Anfield for the temperamental Swiss superstar.

Garth Crooks compares Marko Arnautovic to Carlos Tevez and Paolo Di Canio

[ad_pod ]

Marko Arnautovic provided a strong reminder of his game-changing quality on Saturday afternoon as he scored a brace in West Ham’s 3-0 win over Southampton, a performance which induced praise of the highest order from BBC Sport pundit Garth Crooks.

What’s the word?

The enigmatic Austrian has had a tempestuous season defined by controversy and fallout away from the field, but he put feelings of frustration and resentment behind him on the weekend.

He fired home in the first-half with a neatly placed opener and doubled the Hammers’ advantage in the second-half by heading into a gaping goal.

It was a timely reminder of his quality with the transfer window set to reopen for business in the imminent future, and Crooks was eager to laud the 30-year-old in his team of the week column as a result, per BBC.

‘We’ve seen Marko Arnautovic in this mood before. The Austria international was electric against Southampton.

‘The problem with Arnautovic is his power surges are too infrequent. He’s moody, temperamental and demanding.

‘But West Ham fans love those characteristics in a player. Paolo di Canio and Carlos Tevez had special abilities but were high maintenance – and so too is Arnautovic.’

Another mercurial attacker

The method is in the madness, so the theory goes. That is an idiom not wasted on either Di Canio or Tevez, and it seems that Arnuatovic is the next mercurial attacker to pass through, delight, infuriate and entertain at West Ham.

Tevez will forever remain a legend of the club for the role he played in keeping the Irons afloat in 2007, while Di Canio’s ethereal ability to produce goals of a spectacular nature and dance past defenders with embarrassing ease always had supporters firmly on the edge of their seats.

Arnautovic is perhaps a tad more on the functional side than Di Canio and a little less deadly than Tevez but it’s easy to understand why Crooks has placed him in a bracket alongside these two greats.

The former Stoke City attacker is an exceptional player on his day and can shift the pattern of a single fixture in the blinking of an eye.

His mercurial tendencies add an element of unpredictability to his game that can leave supporters exasperated; equally, though, he wouldn’t be as effective without that level of fire in his belly.

Regardless of whether he stays or goes this summer, Arnautovic will leave a mark on the club where he finally realised the full extent of his potential.

Sunderland manager Jack Ross being eyed by West Brom

[ad_pod ]

According to The Sun on Sunday, (14/04 page 61) Sunderland manager Jack Ross is on the Midlands club’s radar as they seek to replace Darren Moore.

What’s the word?

Ross left St Mirren in the summer to take over the Black Cats and he has them currently sitting in third place with 80 points, two behind Barsnley but with a game in hand.

The Scotsman has also led his team to the final of the Checkatrade Trophy only to lose on penalties to Portsmouth, Lee Cattermole missing the vital spot-kick.

Sunderland are well placed for automatic promotion and this form has seemingly led to West Brom holding an interest in making him their manager.

The Black Cats have been hard to beat and this would no doubt play a part in West Brom wanting the 42-year-old to take them over next season.

But Sunderland have drawn far too many games, 17 in all, and if he were to take over the Midlands club he would have to convert those stalemates into wins.

How would Sunderland deal with Ross leaving?

Ross has built a squad capable of promotion, but it would need a lot of work if they were to be promoted to the Championship next season.

Looking at the current squad, Aiden McGeady, Bryan Oviedo, Grant Leadbitter, Chris Maguire and Will Grigg are the only players who are good enough for the Championship – they do have some talented youngsters but they lack second-tier experience, except George Honeyman.

If a switch to the Hawthorns materialises, Ross won’t be there to oversee that potential transition, and a new manager with different ideas may well disrupt the process.

But Sunderland fans would not be able to begrudge Ross if he did move to West Brom because they are better placed to get back into the Premier League than their North East counterparts. Surely the 42-year-old would relish a chance to manage at the peak of the English game.

Spurs fans heap praise on Lloris

[ad_pod ]

Tottenham Hotspur fans have performed something of a 180-degree turn and lavished praise on goalkeeper Hugo Lloris after a game-changing performance against Manchester City in the Champions League.

The France international – who Transfermarkt value at £27milion – made a vital penalty save in the opening 15 minutes of the encounter, denying Sergio Aguero from 12 yards.

The save came about after a highly controversial refereeing decision; Bjorn Kuipers pointed to the spot after the ball hit Danny Rose’s arm as he attempted to make a sliding block.

Spurs, of course, will take an advantage into the second leg at the Etihad Stadium after Son Heung-Min scored in the second-half.

And fans have been quick to talk up Lloris’ contribution after his third penalty save in a row, after also denying Leicester City’s Jamie Vardy and Arsenal’s Alexandre Lacazette.

Lloris, of course, has made a number of mistakes this season, most recently in the 2-1 loss to Liverpool, as he palmed a simple Mohamed Salah header against Toby Alderweireld to concede an own goal, and made two errors in the Champions League group stages as well.

He was sent off against PSV Eindhoven after a terrible challenge on Hirving Lozano and also rushed out of his goal to allow Philippe Coutinho to score for Barcelona at Wembley.

But fans appear to have changed their minds with the team seemingly in pole position to qualify for the semi-finals of the Champions League. Take a look at the best of the reaction below!

Popular figure: Leeds fans lavish praise on Ezgjan Alioski

[ad_pod ]

Ahead of Macedonia’s clash with Latvia on Thursday night, the Leeds United fans were out in force with messages for Ezgjan Alioski.

Indeed, a number of the Championship club’s supporters asked the 27-year-old to be careful as they did not want him to pick up an injury at this stage of the campaign, with the Whites chasing promotion to the Premier League.

Alioski ultimately played the full 90 minutes for his country, scoring the first and assisting the third in their 3-1 victory in Skopje.

Alioski posted a tweet after the match branding the win ‘important’, with Macedonia now switching their attention to Sunday’s clash with Slovenia.

Once again the Leeds fans have been out in force to comment on the attacker-turned-defender, with many lavishing praise on him.
