Teve atuações seguras durante a Olimpíada enquanto Rodrigo Caio esteve fora.

Harrison tipped to start Leeds’ next game

Former England striker Kevin Phillips believes Jack Harrison could start for Leeds United against Liverpool next week.

The Whites host the reigning Premier League champions next Monday night in what promises to be a thrilling game at Elland Road.

Two attack-minded teams will lock horns, in a clash which could bring back memories of the Whites’ famous Mark Viduka-inspired 4-3 win back in 2000. The reverse of that scoreline materialised when the sides met at Anfield on the opening day of this season.

Leeds are still buoyant after their 2-1 victory away to Manchester City last weekend, a result which showed they can take on the best in the Premier League, even with 10 men.

Harrison tipped to start against Liverpool

Phillips has told Football Insider that he would name the same team for the Liverpool game, but could see Marcelo Bielsa throwing in Harrison:

“It’s Bielsa isn’t it? He’s his own man and he’s quite a stubborn guy so it wouldn’t surprise me if Harrison came back in.

“I’d be disappointed if I was a player missing out after an away win at Man City, I’d like to think he’ll go with the same team again.

“Obviously he’ll have to bring someone in for Cooper but for me, pick the same team and send them in again. Then you’ve got no issues or anyone knocking on your door going ‘why have you dropped me?’.

“It’s Bielsa, we’ve seen him surprise us before but me personally, I’d go with the same team.”

Transfer Tavern take

It is never easy to second-guess Bielsa, but it would be a surprise if he opted to make any changes against the Reds, barring the enforced decision of replacing the suspended Liam Cooper. Leeds will have had a nine-day break by the time the match rolls around, so the team should be well-rested and raring to go again.

That said, with Harrison being their joint-second highest scorer in the league and available once more after being ineligible to face his parent club last Saturday, it’s understandable why Phillips believes he could be recalled when the Reds come to Elland Road in six days’ time.

In other news, one Leeds player has been tipped to have the team built around him next season – find out who it is here.

Celtic must make Cook swoop

Despite having not yet been appointed as Celtic boss, Eddie Howe is reportedly already gathering a list of potential transfer targets and on it is Bournemouth defender Steve Cook.

According to The Sun, the former Cherries boss wants to bring the centre-back North of the border in what be a move that would hugely bolster their current options.

After all, Howe knows the 29-year-old extremely well having relied on him at the Vitality Stadium on several occasions, Cook going on to play 168 matches for the club in the Premier League following promotion in 2015.

It was even a relationship that led the manager to label the defender as “incredible” on numerous occasions.

Whilst not playing at the top level anymore, Cook continues to turn in some excellent performances.

He has made 39 appearances for the Cherries in all competitions this season, captaining the club as they attempt to make an instant return to the Premier League.

Although one downside could be his wages, as he’s amongst their highest earners on a reported £45k-per-week on the south coast.

According to WhoScored, he is averaging 0.5 tackles and 1.5 interceptions per game this season, whilst also contributing 0.7 blocks and a huge 4.3 clearances. They are certainly numbers that would see him become a massive defensive presence at Celtic Park.

After all, the Hoops could certainly do with adding to their centre-back options.

Shane Duffy looks likely to return to parent club Brighton and Hove Albion following the expiry of his loan deal, whilst the likes of Christopher Julien and Kristoffer Ajer continue to be linked with switches away from Celtic.

Cook then could be the perfect addition.

Rated at £6.3m but available on a free transfer come the end of the 2020/21 season, the Hoops must make a move for the Bournemouth man should Howe arrive at the club as expected.

West Ham XI vs Burnley: predicted team, injury news

West Ham United will be looking to get back on track when they head to Burnley in the Premier League this evening.

David Moyes’ side have recently succumbed to successive league defeats and now sit six points behind fourth-placed Chelsea knowing they could halve the gap with a victory at Turf Moor.

Last time out, it was the Blues who they lost to, so the 58-year-old has plenty to consider in terms of team selection.

The Scotsman also has an intriguing decision to make as some of the Hammers’ injured stars could return from injury.

Here’s our predicted XI as the Irons face the Clarets tonight…

There could be as many as four changes from the side that tasted defeat at the London Stadium last weekend.

As revealed by the Evening Standard’s Jack Rosser, Michail Antonio is in line to make a stunning early comeback from injury. “He is working with the physios and on the grass,” Moyes explained. “I wouldn’t rule him out yet but I don’t want to rule him in either. Let’s hope that he’s got a chance.”

The 31-year-old could be risked as the Irons have struggled to score in his absence, he’ll replace Pablo Fornals in attack, with Jesse Lingard going back to the no.10 role and Jarrod Bowen returning out wide.

They could be joined by Said Benrahma as Moyes switches away from using wing-backs. He’s preferred to Manuel Lanzini and Andriy Yarmolenko on the left flank.

Declan Rice, Aaron Cresswell and Arthur Masuaku are all said to be pushing to feature but we expect that this game could come too early, so Mark Noble and Tomas Soucek should continue together in the middle.

However, Ben Johnson and Craig Dawson, who missed the Chelsea game through suspension, return to the starting XI in place of £18m-rated Issa Diop and Fabian Balbuena, even though his red card has been overturned.

The former Watford man partners Angelo Ogbonna in the middle, with Vladimir Coufal on the right and Lukasz Fabianski between the sticks.

AND in other news, GSB could sign Moyes’ next Yakubu with £17m bid for “ruthless” 20 y/o “revelation”…

MCFC: Fans react to Kayky transfer news

Numerous fans of Manchester City have been reacting to a post on Twitter which relayed Fabrizio Romano’s claim that the Premier League leaders have all but landed the signing of Fluminense winger Kayky.

According to Romano, the Brazilian “gem” will join Manchester City in June of 2022, with Pep Guardiola’s side reaching a €10m (£8.7m) plus add-ons agreement with Fluminense for the transfer of the Brazil under-17 international, and a five-year deal being agreed with the 17-year-old.

Despite his tender age, Kayky has already made six appearances for the Fluminense first team, during which the youngster – who has drawn comparisons with Neymar – has scored two goals and provided one assist.

After City Xtra relayed Romano’s report on Twitter, along with footage of a “ridiculous” solo goal scored by Kayky, some fans of Manchester City flocked to have their say on the matter, with many appearing delighted at the prospect of the winger joining their side next year.

So, what exactly did these Manchester City fans have to say in reaction to the news regarding Kayky’s transfer?

“Scenes.”

Update provided on SAFC’s McGeady

Lee Johnson has revealed Aiden McGeady’s chances of appearing for Sunderland against Accrington Stanley this weekend are 50-50.

Johnson provides McGeady update

McGeady missed the Black Cats’ match against Hull City during the week with an ankle issue as his side managed a 2-2 draw.

Speaking prior to this weekend’s clash against Accrington, Johnson provided an update on the 35-year-old. He said (via The Northern Echo):

“I’d put Aiden at 50-50 (for the weekend). He’s tough, like I’ve said, so he wants to play. He’s still very bruised, but at the same time it is a superficial injury.

“It’s not anything bone-related or ligament-related, so if he can handle the pain of smashing one in from 25 yards, hopefully in the top corner, then he can play. It’s as simple as that.”

Save him for the play-offs

Even though he is approaching the end of his career, McGeady is enjoying a fantastic season, especially since the arrival of Johnson. In his last 24 League One appearances, he has managed four goals and 12 assists (Transfermarkt), helping the Black Cats chase their dream of automatic promotion.

Unfortunately, results over the last few weeks mean Sunderland are likely to have to make do with the play-offs if they want to move up to the Championship. As such, it makes no sense to rush McGeady back into the action too quickly. They will need him for the last few games of the campaign – it is then that he can make a real difference to his side’s fortunes.

Saints: Hasenhuttl interested in Murphy

According to recent reports, Southampton are interested in the summer signing of Newcastle winger, Jacob Murphy.

The report by Football Insider claims that a Newcastle United source has revealed that Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side, along with Rangers and Watford, are keeping tabs on Murphy ahead of the summer transfer window.

It is then reported that, in order for Newcastle to part with the £25,000-per-week winger, any interested party will be required to pay the Magpies’ £3 million asking price for the former England U21 international.

However, Football Insider also claim that Steve Bruce is yet to make a decision on whether or not he would actually be open to selling the former Norwich City man, and could even offer Murphy a new deal in the summer.

Transfer Tavern Take

So far this season, Murphy has found his game time somewhat limited at St James’ Park, with the 26-year-old starting just 10 Premier League fixtures, as well as making a further nine appearances from the bench.

Over his total of 19 appearances, the winger – who has often been utilised at wing-back – has scored two goals and provided two assists, hardly a bad return for a square peg in a round hole playing in a struggling side.

As such, should Hasenhuttl wish to add greater depth to his wide options at the club this summer, for a fee of just £3 million, Murphy could prove something of an astute and cost-effective addition to the Saints squad, although, perhaps more as an option from the bench rather than a starter.

A gente vai correr junto.

LFC fans want Reds to sign Haaland’s cousin

A number of Liverpool supporters have been calling for the Reds to sign Albert Tjaaland, who is the cousin of Erling Haaland.

The Reds are looking for a return to winning ways this weekend following Tuesday’s bitterly disappointing 3-1 defeat away to Real Madrid.

The Premier League champions host Aston Villa on Saturday afternoon in what represents another hugely important game in the top-four battle.

Away from the on-field action, transfer stories continue to emerge affecting Liverpool, whether it be possible incomings or outgoings.

One intriguing story which appeared earlier in the week saw Tjaaland admit that he would love to play for the Reds during a Q&A with the Rising Ballers Instagram account.

Incredibly, the 17-year-old has scored 64 goals in just 37 appearances in his youth team career for Bryne FK, outlining his exciting potential.
