According to Turkish reporter Yagiz Sabuncuoglu, Fenerbahce are actively searching for a new right-back, with Walker emerging as their top priority during this summer’s transfer window. The Premier League veteran’s potential arrival comes as the club prepare for life without Nigerian full-back Bright Osayi-Samuel, whose contract expires at the end of June.

THE BIGGER PICTURE
Fenerbahce have formally submitted an offer to City for the 35-year-old right-back. While the specifics of the bid remain undisclosed, the fact that the club have moved beyond initial interest suggests serious intent.
DID YOU KNOW?
Sabuncuoglu’s report adds weight to earlier claims from NTV Spor, which revealed that Fenerbahce had initiated talks with the player's entourage to understand the kind of wages Walker might command. The club appears willing to go the distance to make the deal happen, considering him as an ideal replacement for Osayi-Samuel and a strong presence to help bolster the club's defensive unit for the upcoming Super Lig campaign.

Walker’s future at City has looked increasingly uncertain following a season where his playing time drastically declined. His loan spell at AC Milan during the second half of the 2024-25 season provided a brief change of scenery, but it failed to reignite his form. With the 2026 World Cup now only a year away, Walker knows time is running out to prove his worth to Thomas Tuchel.

Pela Copa Sul-Americana, deve enfrentar o Atlético-GO.
Netherlands folded for 105, after being 49 for 6 at one stage, despite chasing a modest target

It was a match that didn’t matter, and yet Sri Lanka drove their point home anyway. Stung, perhaps, by needing to qualify for the 2023 ODI World Cup, they kept their foot on the throttle despite having qualified, dismantling Netherlands by a 128-run margin in the qualifier final.Despite a late batting collapse where they lost their last seven wickets for 53 runs, Sri Lanka were always on top as their bowlers blew Netherlands away before the chase had even begun.Related
Sri Lanka in ODIs: aye to bowlers and opening batters, nay to everything else
ODI Super League may not be dead just yet
How a re-energised Netherlands made it to the World Cup
Dilshan Madushanka did the bulk of the damage upfront as he picked up three wickets inside the ninth over, and Wanindu Hasaranga was on the job too, with two against his name by the 12th over. Maheesh Theekshana then took over, picking up four wickets to skittle Netherlands for 105. That meant Sri Lanka had won the qualifying event without losing a single match. Both finalists, of course, had already qualified for the ODI World Cup, to be held in India later this year.Fresh from the high of a scintillating chase against Scotland, Netherlands opted to field first again. Vikramjit Singh struck either side of the first powerplay to remove both openers after a sedate start, but Kusal Mendis and Sahan Arachchige consolidated over the next 13 overs. The scoring rate went up and so did Sri Lanka’s dominance in the game with little on offer from the pitch for the bowlers. The batters used the sweep liberally against the spin bowlers, especially leggie Saqib Zulfiqar, but when Mendis missed a straight one, Netherlands had their breakthrough.Arachchige brought up a half-century, while Charith Asalanka’s run-a-ball 36 began to set Sri Lanka up for the finish, but a staggering collapse helped Netherlands storm back into the contest.ESPNcricinfo Ltd
A sharp catch by Logan van Beek at point brought an end to Arachchige’s innings before Asalanka was run-out two deliveries later. Netherlands broke through Dasun Shanaka and Dhananjaya de Silva to burrow into Sri Lanka’s tail, and only a cameo from Hasaranga helped them cross 200. But another flurry of quick wickets at the death brought an end to that stand, and Netherlands had 234 to chase. The first few overs were as good as it got for them in the chase, as they racked up 25 in 4.3 overs. But when Vikramjit carved a straight one to cover-point, the floodgates opened. Madushanka cleaned up Wesley Barresi, before Hasaranga trapped Teja Nidamanuru in front. Netherlands were shaken as captain Scott Edwards fell to a careless run-out, and they were suddenly down at 49 for 6.Max O’Dowd hung around gamely to ensure the total edged towards three figures, but Sri Lanka had already dispatched with the opposition. Theekshana returned to beat O’Dowd’s outside edge and knock back his off stump after a gritty 36-run partnership with van Beek. It was the first of four as Theekshana took up the role of mopper-up, trapping each of the last three in front as the World Cup-bound Netherlands folded for 105.These two sides will meet again in a more important contest in India, when Edwards will hope his side can give a fairer account of themselves.

Speaking on the failed deal, Kehl said: "In the end, we didn’t come to an agreement on Jamie because we have different ideas about the player’s current value.
"But the talks were very, very respectful. We have been in very good dialogue with Chelsea for many years.
"And yet we have a different point of view and are happy that Jamie will now be part of our team at the Club World Cup and are delighted that he is staying.
"I’m not responsible for the late offer. But of course I still have to deal with it and that’s what we’ve done.

Knight hails series as ‘best in history of women’s game’ as England target outright ODI win
Valkerie Baynes16-Jul-2023This Australian side isn’t going away any time soon. That was the message from Alana King after helping her side to an Ashes-retaining victory with three crucial wickets in the second ODI in Southampton. The nail-biting win, by three runs off the final ball, broke a three-game losing streak in the series which had allowed England to draw level on six points all and give themselves a chance of winning back the Ashes, held by Australia since 2015.But with England needing to stage their second record run-chase in as many matches after their successful pursuit of 264 in the first ODI in Bristol, this time needing 283, King blew the game open with a crucial spell yielding the key wickets of in-form opener Tammy Beaumont, captain Heather Knight and Alice Capsey for 15 runs in the space of 23 balls. And, despite Nat Sciver-Brunt’s unbeaten 111, Australia’s four-pronged spin attack, chosen for the conditions but also to change things up and “throw something different at England”, as King put it, prevailed. Ashleigh Gardner took three wickets and bowled a miserly penultimate over while Jess Jonassen typically held her nerve at the death with England needing five off her final delivery and Sciver-Brunt managing just one.”They’ve been really close games, and we’re glad that we got the win today,” King said. “It just shows that this team is not going anywhere, no matter what everyone throws at us.”A theme of this multi-format series has been whether the gap between Australia, dominant for so long, and England is closing, given the close nature of all the contests so far. Australia won the Test by 89 runs but were pushed at various stages before winning the first T20I by four wickets with just one ball to spare and losing three more close encounters. But King still believes Australia are a step ahead.”Yeah, I think there is,” she said when asked if there was still a gap between the sides. “And I think we’re still going to try and be ahead of the game. Yes, we want to bring other countries along because it’s going to improve the game worldwide, but I don’t see us slowing down anytime soon. I think we still want to be ahead and make sure that gap keeps getting bigger. So I don’t see it closing anytime soon.”Australia have maintained all along that their goal is to win the Ashes, not simply retain them, and that hadn’t changed after Sunday’s achievement.”We’ve come here to win the Ashes,” King said. “No-one really wanted to retain it but it’s great that we’ve ticked that box. If we win the Ashes that will be a job done for us and I think we keep stretching that. Yes, we want people to come with us but also we don’t want them to get too close. We want to still be ahead in world cricket and hopefully we can keep showing that.”Don’t get me wrong, it’s an exciting time, we’ve won a game in the Ashes series and it’s great that we’ve retained it, but there’s definitely no complacency with that. So we’ll go out there on Tuesday to make sure that we finish off this series the way we came in.”King hadn’t played since the Test, but she returned to great effect, her stunning legbreak to remove Beaumont after her 60 from 62 balls had set England’s run-chase off to a bright start was a gem, which had her father in raptures in the stands, among a crowd of 12,380.Related

“I actually haven’t seen it but people keep telling me it was a great ball and my dad kept screaming out on the balcony that it was a ripper ball,” King said. “Glad to be back in the squad and glad that we got the win today.”For England’s part, Knight doesn’t believe there is a gap between the sides any more and her side would be out to prove that by seeking to add a 2-1 ODI victory to their T20I scoreline from earlier in the Ashes, which she described as the best series in the history of the women’s game.”This series has shown that we’re very evenly matched,” Knight said. “Cricket-wise we’ve definitely gone toe-to-toe with them. Our work on this has been trying to manage those big moments and trying to be a lot clearer and calmer in those situations. We’ve really done that brilliantly. There’s certainly the belief that we’re good enough to beat this side.”We probably could do a lot of things a little bit better and different today but it’s just been an unbelievable series, two titans going head to head and fighting it out. It’s certainly been entertaining, albeit nerve-racking, to play these games. I don’t think there’s too much between these sides, for us it’s to try and prove that and win the ODI series at Taunton, and try and level the series overall.”It’s got to be the best series there’s ever been in the history of the women’s game,” Knight concluded. “It’s been unbelievable. Two sides going toe-to-toe fighting it out. Every game has been pretty close. Obviously disappointment but pride as well in the fact that we got so close.”
Manchester United have now held talks with a “sensational” ace in the hope of beating Liverpool to his signature, according to a new report.
Man Utd keeping their transfer options open
As the summer transfer window gets ever closer, the transfer stories begin to heat up, and the Red Devils look to have their eyes set on numerous players who they hope will help improve Ruben Amorim’s team.

Southampton’s Tyler Dibling is a player who has been on United’s radar for a while now, but it appears that the Premier League side are ready to step up their interest. It is being reported that United are now ready to sign Dibling, as other teams circle with interest, but they may have to pay as much as £100 million to get the young Englishman to Old Trafford.
Southampton's TylerDiblingin action with Aston Villa's Morgan Rogers and Ian Maatsen
The Red Devils see Dibling as someone who can become their new right wing-back as well as possibly operate as one of their number 10s.
But he is not the only player who is on their radar for becoming their new right wing-back, as the Red Devils are willing to battle Barcelona to win the race for Givairo Read, who currently plays for Feyenoord. He could cost United just £20 million this summer.
Man Utd battling Liverpool in the race to sign Frimpong
But if the 20-time Premier League champions are willing to pay more, then they may turn their attentions elsewhere. According to TBR Football, Man United have held talks over the signing of Jeremie Frimpong from Bayer Leverkusen but face a strong battle to secure his transfer.
Bayer Leverkusen's Nathan Tella celebrates scoring their second goal with JeremieFrimpong
Liverpool are keen on signing the Dutch international as a replacement for Trent Alexander-Arnold, but they now face competition from United and Man City, who have both held talks with Frimpong’s camp in recent weeks.
It doesn’t say how those talks went or what they were focused on, but it is another sign that Amorim wants to strengthen his right-side this summer.
United see Frimpong, who has been dubbed “sensational” by The Guardian columnist Dominik Diamond, as a perfect fit for their right wing-back role. Frimpong has played a similar role at Leverkusen, where he scored nine goals and recorded seven assists in 31 Bundesliga games last season as Leverkusen were crowned league champions.

Frimpong’s potential arrival at Old Trafford would see him replace Diogo Dalot, who has come under scrutiny throughout different times of this 2024/25 campaign. Frimpong’s ability to get up and down the pitch, as well as create and score goals, makes him the ideal player Amorim wants in his team, but it is going to cost the Red Devils £40 million plus to get a deal over the line.
There are only two current Tottenham Hotspur players who started Mauricio Pochettino’s final game: Ben Davies and Son Heung-min.
The former has been a reliable if unspectacular servant to the club and will be remembered fondly by the fans, but the latter has been a bonafide star, an icon of the club and the Premier League.
However, the South Korean joined the club a decade ago and will turn 33 in the summer, and while his numbers are still decent, he clearly cannot impact games in the same way anymore.
Spurs striker Heung-min Son
He is simply a victim of time, with research from The Athletic revealing that wingers see a dramatic decline in their ability to beat defenders when they reach 30 years old.
So, if Ange Postecoglou wants to take the club forward next season, he should be looking at a long-term replacement for the club legend, and based on recent reports, Daniel Levy and Co may have identified just the player.
Tottenham's winger search
According to a recent report out of Spain, Spurs are incredibly keen on Feyenoord’s Brazilian dynamo Igor Paixão.
Transfer Focus
Mega money deals, controversial moves and big-name flops. This is the home of transfer news and opinion across Football FanCast.
In fact, alongside the Lilywhites, the report has revealed that North London rivals Arsenal, as well as Newcastle United, Liverpool and Bournemouth, have made contact and expressed their interest in signing the goalscoring wideman.
Fortunately, while the number of interested parties is far from ideal, the Dutch giants reportedly value the 24-year-old maestro at just €30m, which comes out to about £25m.
It could still be a difficult transfer to get over the line, but with how well Paixão has played this season, it’s one Spurs should fight for, especially as he could be the perfect upgrade on Son.
How Paixão compares to Son
Now, when we get down to it, there are two key areas in which Paixão has an advantage over Son, and the first is longevity.
By this, we mean the simple fact that, at 24 years old, the Brazilian is going to be able to play at the very highest level for far longer than the South Korean will be, especially in the high-intensity system Postecoglou wants to implement.
The second area where the Feyenoord star, whom U23 scout Antonio Mango has described as having a real “eye for goal”, has the edge is raw output.
For example, in 38 appearances this season, totalling 3176 minutes, the “quality” Macapá-born winger, as dubbed by analyst Ben Mattinson, has scored 11 goals and provided 15 assists.
That means he is currently averaging a goal involvement every 1.46 games, or every 122.15 minutes, which is an undeniably impressive level of output.

In contrast, the former Bayer Leverkusen ace has scored 11 goals and provided 11 assists in 40 appearances, totalling 2835 minutes, which comes out to an average of a goal involvement every 1.81 games, or every 128.86 minutes.
While that’s still an impressive level of productivity from the Chuncheon-born icon, it’s still less than his potential competition and, given where he is in his career, we’d be stunned if he was able to match it again next year.
Ultimately, Son is undeniably a modern-day great for both Spurs and the Premier League as a whole, but he is much nearer the end of his career than the start, and while he’s plying his trade in a non-top five league at the moment, Paixão looks to have the raw ingredients to be an effective upgrade on the 32-year-old.
Therefore, Levy and Co should do what they can to bring him to N17 before one of their rivals beat them to his signature.
