Ele pediu jogadores e a diretoria trouxe.

Nestas, testou três formações diferentes e perdeu totalmente a cara do time que havia desenvolvido desde janeiro, no começo do trabalho.

Stuart Broad finishes No. 1 among nearly six million

The England bowler is first among nearly six million contestants for the week

ESPNcricinfo staff10-May-2018The number 169 just took on even greater significance for England bowler Stuart Broad. It’s his highest Test score, and it was now also the fantasy football score that made him lead the Fantasy Premier League for game week 37. Broad was first among nearly six million contestants in the latest round of English Premier League matches, and he joked on Twitter that the achievement rivalled his 8 for 15 in the 2015 Ashes. That was on Thursday, May 11. The following day Manchester United drew 0-0 with West Ham, and because Broad had West Ham keeper Adrian on the bench – and having used the ‘bench boost’ – he finished on 180 points and won the game week.Broad is a fan of Nottingham Forest, who do not play in the Premier League, and so had the advantage of being able to make unbiased picks in his Fantasy XI. He had made Arsenal striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang his captain and got 46 points for him, thanks to Aubameyang’s three goals and one assist over the week. Broad also got 15 points each for Chelsea left back Marcos Alonso, who scored against Huddersfield, and Tottenham centre back Jan Vertonghen, who helped keep a clean sheet against Newcastle. He used the “bench boost” option, which means he got points for his substitutes.0800 GMT* The story was updated to reflect Broad winning the week

Chelsea: Raheem Sterling’s goal record vs Aston Villa

Mauricio Pochettino’s Chelsea tenure hasn’t got off to the most seamless start and the pressure is already building after the sheer amount of money that was spent by the club in the summer.

The former Tottenham Hotspur and Southampton boss will be keen to secure a second Premier League win of the season and it is Aston Villa who will stand in their way this weekend.

Raheem Sterling has been one of the brightest sparks in blue so far this year and the English icon could well be the difference-maker when Unai Emery and Aston Villa come to town.

At Football FanCast, we have delved into the history books of this fixture and also the record that Sterling has against the Villains.

What is Raheem Sterling’s goal record against Aston Villa?

Raheem Sterling has faced off against Aston Villa 15 times in all competitions across his career in English football.

The Chelsea man has scored twice in the Premier League against them and also found the back of the net in an FA Cup clash with Villa during his time as a Manchester City player.

All three of his goals in this fixture came whilst he was at the Etihad – he never scored against Villa as a Liverpool player and is yet to get off the mark wearing the blue of Chelsea.

What is Raheem Sterling’s assist record against Aston Villa?

Sterling is quite a versatile attacking player in that he brings both goals and assists to the table.

Villa know this all too well with the Englishman assisting five goals when playing against them.

Two of these came in the only two FA Cup meetings with one league assist coming in his Liverpool tenure, and the other two being from the Manchester City days.

How many goal contributions does Raheem Sterling have against Aston Villa?

Chelsea forward Raheem Sterling.

Combining the two and Sterling has contributed to eight goals in competitions from his 15 clashes with Aston Villa.

The 28-year-old has three goal contributions in the FA Cup, zero in the EFL Cup and then five from Premier League meetings.

What is Raheem Sterling's head-to-head record against Aston Villa?

Raheem Sterling burst onto the scene with Liverpool, earned a big-money move to Manchester City and now plays in London at Chelsea. These are three of the biggest teams in English football and so he has enjoyed a lot of victories in his esteemed career.

When facing Aston Villa, the England international has a very solid record, winning 10 of the 15 meetings. Meanwhile, two were drawn and the other three went the way of Villa.

As a Liverpool player, Sterling won twice, drew once and actually lost three times whilst the only meeting as a Chelsea man to date saw his side win 2-0 away from home.

What is Raheem Sterling’s home record vs Aston Villa?

Former Liverpool winger Raheem Sterling.

This weekend’s match will take place at Stamford Bridge and so it is fascinating to track how Sterling and co have performed on home soil against Aston Villa.

During his time at Anfield, Villa came and left with seven points from a possible nine, something which Liverpool won’t be keen to look back on.

Success was the motto at the Etihad though and Villa were unable to accrue a single point from their four trips to Manchester. City won all of these games and did so by a whopping aggregate score of 12-2.

Who has Raheem Sterling scored the most goals against?

He may have a solid record against Aston Villa but they are nowhere near the summit of the list of Sterling’s favourite opponents.

When it comes to goals, the four-time Premier League winner has found the back of the net 11 times against both AFC Bournemouth and Watford. Nine is his tally against Newcastle United and Southampton and then Tottenham Hotspur, West Ham United, Arsenal and Norwich City come next with eight.

Who does Raheem Sterling have the most goal contributions against?

Having scored 11 times against the aforementioned duo, they are of course near the top of the list for goal contributions but they do not lead the way.

His 11 goals and four assists against Bournemouth, from 15 games, is bettered by Sterling’s record against West Ham. Eight goals and eight assists against the Irons has them on top and interestingly enough, with six, they are the team against who Sterling has accumulated the most yellow cards. It is worth noting too that the only red of his career was against the Cherries.

How many goals does Raheem Sterling have in September?

Raheem Sterling Liverpool

Sterling was on fire against Luton Town, scoring a brace, but that came at the end of August and he is yet to score this month as we head into the Aston Villa clash.

That being said, he has hit the ground running in numerous seasons previously and has a very healthy record for the month of September.

The boy from Brent has 17 goals in all competitions in the month of September since he became a professional footballer.

10 of these came in the Premier League including a brace against Crystal Palace in 2017. Meanwhile, he struck four times in the EFL Cup and also found the back of the net against Celtic, Shakhtar Donetsk and RB Salzburg in the UEFA Champions League.

What is Raheem Sterling's overall Chelsea goal record?

Sterling is of course a recent arrival at Stamford Bridge and so his record as a Blue won’t be blowing anyone away any time soon.

He has netted 11 times for Chelsea, three in the Champions League and then eight in the Premier League.

What is Raheem Sterling’s overall Chelsea assist record?

Raheem Sterling

With his previous clubs, Sterling has had a fairly balanced rate between his goals and assists but that is yet to be the case in the English capital.

For Chelsea, Sterling has four assists, three of which came in the Premier League whilst the other was against AC Milan in a 3-0 UCL group stage victory.

Aston Villa: £4.5m flop has become a title winner since leaving Villa Park

These days, Aston Villa are unlikely to be too bothered about their goalkeeping situation – seeing as World Cup winner Emi Martinez is part of a great setup that has rewarded the Lions with a first involvement in European football in over a decade.

However, the Villans would be refreshed to hear that they're not the only ones who have taken the rough with the smooth before coming good in recent seasons. Step forward, Pierluigi Gollini.

How much did Aston Villa sell Pierluigi Gollini for?

Gollini signed for then-Champiosnhip Aston Villa in 2015. The young 'keeper had had a promising Serie A season with Hellas Verona, and showed why he'd been involved with the youth academies of Fiorentina and even Manchester United.

However, in Birmingham, things didn't exactly materialise for the 6 foot 4 stopper with Aston Villa struggling to bounce back from relegation to the second tier under Roberto Di Matteo.

Pairing some key Gollini mistakes as well as the eventual sacking of the manager who bought him – the keeper fell further and further down the pecking order.

Pierluigi Gollini in action for Aston Villa in the Championship.

When Steve Bruce arrived, Mark Bunn was preferred for the 2016 festive period. Then, Sam Johnstone came in on loan in the January window from Manchester United – all but cementing the club's intentions to get Gollini gone.

Atalanta obliged and took him on loan for 18 months before making the move permanent in June 2018 for what now seems a steal of £4.5m.

Where is Pierluigi Gollini now?

In Bergamo, Gollini steadily became a constant feature in a side of often-cult players that achieved great league placements for La Dea.

After gradually surpassing Erit Berisha's spot as number one, Gollini spent two terms in the team that finished third in 2019/20, and 2020/21. In Atalanta's debut Champions League campaign, Gollini featured in every group game as they finished second.

In the 19/20 campaign, Gollini kept eight clean sheets. He then beat that in 20/21 with ten as the rest of the league saw what a capable keeper Aston Villa had let go.

This prompted admittedly inconsistent loans to both Tottenham and Fiorentina before he settled again on loan with Napoli.

The Italian giants have taken Gollini on loan twice with the potential for a permanent move – and his form when given the chance, and support to the group, has kept him at the club. When he got the opportunity in Napoli's Serie A winning campaign ahead of regular Alex Meret – Gollini kept two clean sheets in four appearances. Impressive work indeed.

Now, despite being lauded "as among the hottest goalkeeping prospects to come out of Italy", before only spending six months at Aston Villa – Gollini's story shows that persistent determination and a clearly endearing nature can get you where you want to go.

Maybe after all, it looks as if the 'keeper can keep repaying Roberto Di Matteo's judgement: "Gollini is a highly-rated goalkeeper in Italy, he's young, a good shot-stopper, he comes for crosses, he's good with his feet."

Indeed, perhaps that sale of just £4.5m was a mistake after all. Imagine him and Martinez together…

Aston Villa: Villans were bled dry by "underwhelming" dud who cost £2.4m per goal

Aston Villa are enjoying brighter times under Unai Emery, with the Spaniard directing the club back to the glory days after some questionable form under Steven Gerrard.

The former Arsenal boss has reconnected the squad and implemented his own style of play to great effect, as his players continue to elevate their performance for the benefit of the club.

While the signings that the four-time Europa League winner has made so far at Villa have been impressive, the Villans haven’t always had a high success rate from new arrivals, as Dean Smith will know from one of his captures.

In the summer of 2021, Smith struck a deal with Southampton to sign striker Danny Ings on a three-year contract in a bid to bolster his front line.

How much did Danny Ings cost Villa overall?

Villa paid £25m to the Saints to take the sharp-shooter off their hands, with Smith describing him as an “outstanding” acquisition who has “scored goals wherever he has played”.

It was a fair evaluation by Smith, as Ings sits today on a domestic goal tally of 123 scored in 380 appearances for a variety of clubs, however only 14 of them came at Villa.

The Englishman was handed a salary of £6.24m-per-year by the Midlands club, making him their second-highest earner at the time – falling just short of Philippe Coutinho with a wage of £120k-per-week.

Considering that Ings arrived on the back of a glorious stint at St Mary’s where he had netted 46 goals in 100 appearances, his price and wage seemed verifiable with reference to the impact he was anticipated to make on the team.

Things didn’t quite go to plan for the Winchester-born whiz, as he bid farewell to Villa Park after just a year and a half, where in that time he’d cost the club a total of around £34m in both wages and transfer fees.

Was he worth that much?

When you divide the overall expenditure Villa paid to both purchase Ings and maintain his wage demands by the number of goals he scored, it works out that the 31-year-old cost the club around £2.4m per goal.

There was no denying the presence in leading the line that the former Liverpool forward would implement to the XI, however what he actually delivered at Villa Park was far from the standard expected.

After scoring 22 Premier League goals in 2019/20 and 12 in 2020/21, it was a disappointment to see Ings score only seven in his debut campaign in the top flight with Villa.

Luckily for the Villans, they had, and still have, a talisman to compare and contrast the poor form of Ings to in Ollie Watkins, who outscored the £25m man during both seasons he was at the club.

Upon reflection of his career in Birmingham, the England international with three caps dubbed his first campaign at Villa Park as “underwhelming”, which after seven goals in 30 appearances, is a fair call of judgement.

maxwel-cornet-danny-ings-west-ham-opinion

In January 2023, the striker moved on to the London Stadium to call it quits on his time with the Villans, signing for West Ham United as part of a £15m deal.

Since signing for the Hammers, the former Saints talisman has found the net on just two occasions in the Premier League, signalling that despite losing millions to sign him, Villa cashed in on his services at the right moment.

From millions in wages to a struggle for goals, Villa are fortunate enough to have been handed a life raft in the form of Watkins – who has struck four times in eight league games this season – to save them from the humiliation of Ings’ woeful spell, with their goals restored through Emery’s star man.

Chelsea: Boehly could spend "big money" to sign Marc Cucurella replacement

Chelsea and transfer chief Todd Boehly by extension may spend "big money" on replacing defender Marc Cucurella and shoring up the left-back position.

Latest Chelsea news

After a regrettable run of going three straight Premier League games without scoring a single goal, having been without one since late August, Mauricio Pochettino's men got back to winning ways with a much-needed 2-1 west London derby win over Fulham on Monday night. A first Chelsea goal for Myhhalo Mudryk and striker's Armando Broja finish a minute later did enough to seal all three points for the Blues.

"We got what we deserved," Pochettino said afterwards.

"The first half we were much better than Fulham. The second half we were in control. I’m so happy because the players needed this victory and so did the fans. We now have two victories in less than one week. We needed to feel the taste of victory, and another clean sheet also. Now we have won two games we need to keep calm and keep building the belief and the confidence. We have had many negative circumstances with so many players not fit, but the most important thing is belief and the team believe in what we are doing."

Chelsea next take on Vincent Kompany's Burnley at Turf Moor on Saturday, knowing another three points could steer them further in the right direction just prior to the next international break.

Latest Chelsea transfer news

A lot of Chelsea's problems so far have been in front of goal, and despite the signing of Nicolas Jackson from Villarreal, there is a case to be made that they're lacking a world-class, natural centre-forward. As a result, the likes of Napoli striker Victor Osimhen and Brentford's Ivan Toney are being linked with moves to Stamford Bridge.

Pochettino and Boehly could also opt to strengthen in the left-back area, as Ben Chilwell is currently sidelined with a hamstring injury and Cucurella is the subject of a possible January exit. That is according to journalist Pete O'Rourke, who shared some news on the matter in a column for Football Insider.

Chelsea managerMauricioPochettinoand AFC Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola

"The Blues could explore a deal for a new left-back in January if they can get Marc Cucurella off the books," wrote the reporter.

"Ben Chilwell’s injury problems are the subject of real concern behind the scenes at Chelsea – and the left-back is set for another spell out after picking up a fresh problem against Brighton. The club’s owners are not afraid to spend big money and could do so again to give Pochettino a new left-back option in January."

Cucurella started his first league match of the season against Fulham last night, but he came in at right-back, potentially meaning Pochettino has different plans for the opposite flank. The Spaniard, signed from Brighton in the summer of 2022, has previously been called "very intelligent" by ex-Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel.

It will be interesting to see what the future does hold for Cucurella, or if Pochettino will turn to Ian Maatsen as an option more often.

'Throw marketing clout behind Tests, don't succumb to lazy assumption that T20 rules'

Kevin Pietersen has urged the cricketing fraternity to focus on the revival of Test cricket, while delivering the MAK Pataudi Memorial Lecture in Bengaluru

ESPNcricinfo staff12-Jun-2018Getty Images

Why Test cricket remains the pinnacle
“In my humble opinion a hard fought five-day Test match remains the greatest all-round challenge in modern day sport.”A challenge as mentally demanding as it is physical. A challenge demanding the very highest levels of concentration of technique, of determination, of stamina, all, for the batsman at least, with no second chances.”Because, having played every form of cricket in every corner of the cricketing globe, I remain 100% convinced that the five-day Test remains the supreme form of the game.”This may surprise some of you. After all, I am not known as a traditionalist… Nor, I should add, am I anything but unstinting in my praise of T20 cricket – particularly the wonderful IPL. Twenty20 provides the thrill, the noise, the speed and no little genius. It has taken fielding to a new level and has redefined batting.”But it offers the cricketing buzz without the full sting. Wickets are less precious. Risks are taken without the same downside. There is less character and technique required. Few players have ever been met with the wrath of an entire population simply for getting out to an injudicious shot early in a T20 innings…””Trust me, there is no feeling like the exhaustion, the excitement, the sense of wonder at waking up on the final day of a Test match knowing that any result is possible. The aching thighs. The mental fatigue. The fear. And the possibility that this will be day.”How you keep Test cricket healthy
“I’m afraid that the answer to that isn’t in the hands of cricketers at all. It’s in a word that makes many shudder: commerce.”We may dream that cricketers will choose to play five-day cricket because of its history and tradition. Because it develops character. And because we seek to emulate the feats of [Don] Bradman, [Len] Hutton and [Sunil] Gavaskar.”But that would be no different to asking a Bollywood star to give up the screen for work in the theatre. It may be a more classical form of acting but it offers a fraction of the rewards.”If we wish cricketers to commit to five-day cricket we have to pay them. And as an ex-cricketer, I can now say this without being accused of self-interest…”So how do we pay them? Simply by throwing the same commercial nous and innovation [as in T20] at the Test game. Five days of action. They provide so many opportunities. Day-night games have demonstrated the enormous leaps that are possible. The IPL doesn’t play its biggest fixtures when many of its staunchest, wealthiest fans are at work. Neither should Test cricket…”Let’s make every game count. Push the profile of the World Test Championship. Develop marketing opportunities. Offer cheaper seats in the ground to provide a better spectacle for TV viewers.”Is there a game anywhere quite like Test cricket in which so many people are passionate despite rarely attending a game in person? We need to get them back through the turnstiles. It’s better for the players, the sponsors, and television…”Let’s throw equal marketing clout behind the Test game before we succumb to the lazy assumption that T20 rules.”How to raise Test cricket’s entertainment levels
“Let’s not compromise on entertainment… Let’s make Test cricket a spectacle. Garnish it with colour and fireworks. Fill the grounds. Play in the evenings. Give the umpires microphones to broadcast to the spectators. Allow sledging – as long as it remains the right side of the line. Communicate better with the fans.”Give the players a voice during play. Entertainment isn’t just about hitting the ball hard or bowling bouncers. It’s about creating an experience.”How to make Test cricket the best players’ priority
“As for the administrators wondering what the players really think. How do you ensure that Rashid Khan and his fellow stars in this room commit to Test cricket? How do you push them towards a career where they truly care about the five-day game?”It’s remarkably simple. Ensure that it becomes their priority. They are professionals. They are brands in their own right…”So ensure that they are paid as well over five days as they are over five hours of T20 cricket. You can’t blame a player for seeking financial security through his or her sporting talent. The days of amateurism are gone.”Let’s not kid ourselves that players will choose a classical art form over something requiring less effort that attracts greater rewards. When the greatest players can attract the greatest income by playing the greatest form of the game, then we will see nothing less than a renaissance in Test cricket.”

Russell returns to West Indies ODI squad for first time since 2015

Andre Russell, Alzarri Joseph and Kieran Powell have been recalled to the West Indies side for their three-match ODI series against Bangladesh beginning July 22

ESPNcricinfo staff16-Jul-2018Allrounder Andre Russell is set to play his first ODI for West Indies since November 2015 after being named in a 13-man squad for the three-match series against Bangladesh beginning on July 22 in Guyana.Fast bowler Alzarri Joseph and batsman Kieran Powell also earned recalls while Marlon Samuels, Carlos Brathwaite, Nikita Miller, Sheldon Cottrell and Kesrick Williams were dropped from the ODI squad, after they played in the World Cup Qualifier in Zimbabwe to clinch a spot for West Indies at next year’s World Cup.West Indies ODI squad

Russell’s last ODI for West Indies came nearly three years ago against Sri Lanka in the first ODI in Colombo. He scored 41 off 24 balls but also suffered a leg injury that kept him out of the following two matches in the series. That match is the only ODI Russell has played since the 2015 World Cup.He had been suspended for a year in January 2017 after he was found guilty of an anti-doping violation. Russell was charged with failing to file his whereabouts paperwork three times within a year, which amounts to a failed doping test under World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) rules. After the ban, he returned to 50-over cricket for Jamaica in the Regional Super50 tournament but withdrew himself from consideration for the West Indies squad for the World Cup Qualifier in March, allegedly because he wanted to regain his confidence in the format first. Instead, he chose to play in the Pakistan Super League during the same time frame.”Great to have Dre Russ back as well,” West Indies coach Stuart Law said in a CWI press release announcing the squad for the Bangladesh series. “His explosive power and energy will breathe life into an already motivated squad.”Aside from the five players dropped, Kemar Roach was rested for the ODIs in what the selectors described as managing player workloads in the lead-up to next year’s World Cup. Roach was also rested for the second Test against Bangladesh after picking up a hamstring strain in the first Test and was replaced in the squad by Joseph.
