Manchester City made a big mistake in loaning out Angelino

Manchester City look to have made a terrible mistake in loaning out Spanish left-back Angelino, as he continues to impress for RB Leipzig.

The 23-year-old was loaned out to Julian Nagelsmann’s side during the summer, with the Bundesliga side reportedly holding the option to make the move permanent for £16.3 million.

This looks to be a bargain deal when you consider the impressive manner in which the left-back has started the season, both in the Bundesliga and in the Champions League.

So far this season Angelino, described as “inquisitive” by Nagelsmann in October, has averaged an incredible 7.46 rating for his performances in Germany’s top-flight, having contributed four goals and two assists in those games (per WhoScored).

He has been equally impressive in the Champions League, with three goals and three assists to his name in the group stages, which saw him average a 7.24 rating.

The defender will no doubt have won over a lot of Manchester City fans with his most recent performance for Die Roten Bullen, as he earned the man-of-the-match award after scoring and assisting in Leipzig’s 3-2 win against Manchester United in midweek, which knocked Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side out of the competition.

Angelino’s average rating far surpasses the likes of Benjamin Mendy, Oleksandr Zinchenko and Nathan Ake, who have all featured at left-back for Manchester City this season, suggesting that the club may have made a mistake in loaning him out.

City’s sporting director, Aitor “Txiki” Begiristain Mujika, will surely be regretting the decision and will be hoping that Leipzig don’t exercise their option to buy him, although when you consider his superb start to the season, this seems unlikely.

The Spanish defender, who earns €55k (£50k) per week, was never really given an opportunity to impress in Guardiola’s side, with just 15 first-team appearances to his name, which certainly seems like something the club may regret if he continues to impress with Leipzig.

And, in other news… 0% duels won: “Special” MCFC ace badly let Guardiola down with an abysmal display…

Everton: Fans slam Ronald Koeman interest in Dominic Calvert-Lewin

Loads of Everton fans were left fuming over the possible exit of Dominic Calvert-Lewin to play under Ronald Koeman at Barcelona.

According to Spanish news outlet Mundo Deportivo (via The Toffee Blues), the former Everton manager is interested in reuniting with the 23-year old in Spain.

Incidentally, Calvert-Lewin did not have the best of times playing under Koeman, as he only managed to score four goals and provide three assists in 28 games in all competitions at Goodison Park, as per Transfermarkt.

However, the striker has been much-improved so far this term, scoring no fewer than nine goals in just six matches over all competitions, including scoring a hat-trick in two separate games (per Transfermarkt).

Therefore, it is perhaps not a surprise that Koeman is interested in signing him, and the Dutchman may well make his move in the January transfer window.

Everton fan reaction to possible Calvert-Lewin exit

These Everton supporters on Twitter were raging over the possibility of Calvert-Lewin leaving the Toffees:

Why signing Kylian Mbappe would make Liverpool truly unstoppable

Liverpool have been linked to a mega money move for global superstar Kylian Mbappe – undoubtedly a link that many would pinch themselves over if it came to fruition.

Many outlets have tied the two parties together, but the Daily Mail has reported that the Reds are in regular talks with Mbappe over a potential 2021 transfer. Real Madrid are also in hot pursuit of the France international and could be viewed as favourites to land a move for his services.

At the moment, Liverpool have one the best attacking forces in the world. After securing their sixth European title and first ever Premier League trophy, their market value has rocketed. Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah are both currently worth a mammoth £108million, behind only Raheem Sterling, Neymar and of course, Mbappe (via Transfermarkt).

Since Salah’s arrival in 2017, he and fellow winger Mane have tallied a total of 168 goals between them. Their unstoppable presence in front of goal has put them on the radar of huge clubs, but it’ll take a lot to tempt them away from Liverpool.

One thing that could almost certainly keep them with the Merseyside club is the addition of one of the world’s best strikers.

Whilst Roberto Firmino is irreplaceable from a chance creation and work ethic angle, the Reds have been without a prolific goal poacher since they sold Luis Suarez. Bringing in someone like Mbappe – who currently boasts a tally of 118 career goals in 186 senior appearances – would be any opposition’s nightmare.

In 2018/19, he recorded his best ever campaign record with an astonishing 33 Ligue 1 goals in 29 appearances. His overall count finished at 39 goals in 43 matches across all competitions (via Transfermarkt).

If the Reds acquired Mbappe and played him ahead of Firmino, they would undoubtedly become an unstoppable force in both England and Europe. With Alisson and Virgil van Dijk also in defence, the squad would be perfectly well-rounded.

The latest L’Equipe report on Mbappe’s price tag claims he could be available for just £90million next season. He is said to be looking for a way out of Paris Saint-Germain and the French giants could lower his price as he enters the final year of contract next summer (via Sport Bible).

Premier Picks: Predicting every Premier League result in GW7

Another game week is upon us, and it follows a weekend of some great football which included Everton losing their first game of the season to Southampton, as well as a 3-0 thumping for Aston Villa from Leeds.

Liverpool were triumphant over Sheffield United, whilst Manchester United and Chelsea were held to a 0-0 draw – all of which made for an interesting weekend of Premier League football that changed the shape of the table after six games in.

This weekend, however, sees some great matchups – with Wolves vs Crystal Palace on Friday night, Liverpool vs West Ham on Saturday, and Manchester United vs Arsenal on Sunday. This is followed by Leeds vs Leicester on Monday Night Football, a great set of games for GW7 – so without further ado, let’s make our predictions for the weekend with Premier Picks! Make sure you make your predictions here ahead of GW7, and good luck…

Wolves 2-1 Crystal Palace

So far this season, Roy Hodgson’s side have had a positive start, with 3 wins, 1 draw, and 2 losses from their opening 6 games. This Friday sees them matchup against Wolves, who are unbeaten in their last three Premier League games. I’ve predicted a 2-1 victory for Wolves, simply due to their positive run of form as of late, after a stalled start to the season with defeats to Manchester City and West Ham.

Wilfried Zaha will likely get himself on the score sheet again, after scoring 5 goals with 1 assist. Wolves themselves have some impressive fire-power up top, with Raul Jimenez scoring four goals so far this season – either way, it will be a great game to watch.

Sheffield United 0-3 Manchester City

Manchester City have had a tough start this season, with just 2 wins from their first 5 games, including 2 draws and 1 loss to Leicester City. The tale can be said the same for The Blades, who are yet to win a game this season with 5 losses and 1 draw – a 1-1 vs Fulham.

The game will be a strange one, due to the poor start to the season that both teams have had, but I expect the Cityzens to come out on top – last season Pep Guardiola’s men came out on top during both games, with a 2-0 win at home and a 1-0 win away, hence my prediction of a 3-0 win for Manchester City.

Burnley 1-2 Chelsea

Chelsea’s season is yet to take off how their fans may have hoped – just 2 wins in 6 games has left them 10th place in the table. Burnley have had a poor start to this campaign, yet to win a game with 4 losses and 1 draw under their belt – and they will be hoping to change this coming Saturday.

Sadly, I can’t see it going their way, and I’m going for a 2-1 win in Frank Lampard’s favour – mainly due to their high scoring games this season, and Burnley’s lack of fire-power up top. The Blues have scored 13 goals this season to Burnley’s 3, so expect to see Chelsea come out on top.

Liverpool 4-2 West Ham

The Reds, like many other teams so far this season, have had a strange start. Despite being joint at the top of the table with Everton, Jurgen Klopp’s men have seen themselves lose to Aston Villa, as well as a 2-2 draw against the Toffees.

West Ham have seen themselves enjoy a positive start to the season, with 2 wins, 2 draws, and 2 losses, which include victories of Wolves and Leicester, as well as draws against Tottenham and Manchester City – a fine haul of results given the opposition. This game will look to be an interesting one, with Mo Salah on scoring form these past few weeks with 6 goals in 6 games in the league this season.

I predict a win for Liverpool this weekend, and I’m going for a 4-2 victory.

Aston Villa 2-2 Southampton

Aston Villa have enjoyed one of their best starts to a season for some years now, beating Liverpool and Leicester, winning their opening four games of the league season.

Their last game, however, ended in a 3-0 defeat to Leeds for Dean Smith’s side, their first loss of the campaign. Southampton’s start has been rather up and down, but as of late are unbeaten in their last four games, with a 2-0 win over Everton last weekend – setting them up nicely for this game against the Villans. Both sides are looking in form, and I can’t see a definitive winner in this game, so I’m going for a 2-2 draw.

Newcastle 1-1 Everton

The Magpies have had a mixed start to this campaign, with 2 wins, 2 draws, and 2 losses. The clubs to goalscorer, Callum Wilson, has 4 goals to his name this season but has failed to convert in his last 2 games against Manchester United and Wolves. Everton enjoyed their best start to a Premier League season ever, winning their opening 4 games.

Recently, the Toffees have lost to Southampton, and will be looking to return to winning ways – but I feel the Toon won’t make that easy for them, and I’m going for a 1-1 draw between the two.

Manchester United 2-3 Arsenal

I’m not really sure what is it that is making me think that Arsenal will win this game, but in a world of tactics, I feel Mikel Arteta has the upper hand on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. Manchester United haven’t enjoyed the greatest start to their Premier League season, with 2 wins, 1 draw, and 2 losses from their first five games.

Arsenal the same, with 3 wins and 3 losses, making this match up anyone’s game for the taking. I’m going for a 3-2 win in the Gunners favour, simply due to the fact I feel Arteta will know how to grind this one out.

Tottenham Hotspur 2-1 Brighton & Hove Albion

Tottenham’s opening game of the season didn’t quite go to plan for the Lilywhites, but since their opening day 2-0 loss to Everton, they are unbeaten in their last 5 games. Brighton have shown real quality this season, but have been unlucky with some of their results.

Despite this, I still feel Spurs will come out on top after their fine form in the league this season, and I’m going for a 2-1 win in their favour. Harry Kane and Heung-min Son will likely find their way on the scoresheet again, with the Englishman with 5 goals and 8 assists, and the South Korean recording 8 goals and 2 assists this season.

Fulham 1-1 West Brom

Maybe one of the least exciting games of the weekend comes in the form of Fulham vs West Brom – with both sides failing to record a win in the league this season.

The Baggies have found themselves the better off of the two sides, with 3 draws against Chelsea, Burnley, and Brighton – but The Cottagers have only managed 1 point so far this campaign. With both sides failing to show any winning dominance, I’m going for a 1-1 draw.

Leeds United 0-0 Leicester City

I feel this will be a fantastic game to watch, with both Marcelo Biela and Brendan Rodgers showing the quality that both their sides possess this season.

Despite some recent high scoring games for both teams, I feel this one ending in a stalemate with a 0-0 draw. Leeds are coming off the back of a 3-0 victory over Aston Villa last weekend, with the Foxes also beating Arsenal 1-0 in the last gameweek – but with both sides proving themselves defensively, I can see this one being split down the middle.

Não me meto.

Aston Villa can find perfect Jack Grealish successor in Eberechi Eze

According to The Guardian, Aston Villa are one of the clubs interested in QPR starlet Eberechi Eze this summer.

What’s the word?

Eze’s performances in the Championship this season have naturally attracted attention from numerous Premier League sides, with The Guardian claiming that the likes of Villa, West Ham, Crystal Palace and Newcastle, amongst others, all interested in securing a transfer.

Spot the fact from the fib: Are these Premier League records true or false?

World Class score: 95% | Expert score: 80% | Veteran score: 65% | Intermediate score: 45% | Amateur score: 30% | Try Again: 5%

The report claims that QPR are holding out for as much as £20m for the England youth international, and if Villa are to get their man, then they are likely going to have to beat stiff competition for his signature.

Potential successor to Jack Grealish

Having secured their Premier League safety on the final day of the season, their chances of keeping star man Grealish has risen considerably. In fact, according to Sky Sports, whilst clubs like Arsenal have registered their interest in him, Villa are now set to demand about £80m for the midfielder.

And whilst it seems unlikely, especially in these current circumstances, that a team will find the money to sign him this summer, it doesn’t take away from the fact Grealish is likely to move on eventually in order to win trophies.

That is exactly why a move for Eze this summer could prove to be such a shrewd signing. Described as “very special” by QPR manager Mark Warburton, the 22-year-old is very similar in profile to Grealish.

QPR’s former assistant manager Mark Bircham said: “In terms of his natural ability, he’s up there with one of the best I’ve seen. He’s exciting when he gets the ball. As he’s both footed, he can go both ways past people. He gets you off your seat. If he keeps getting the ball in dangerous areas, something will happen.”

Much like Grealish, Eze brings excitement, and his tally of 14 goals and eight assists in the Championship are testament to that. If Villa are on the look-out for a future successor to their talisman, then they could find him in the QPR prospect.

Loads of Spurs fans react to Alasdair Gold tweet

Tottenham Hotspur fans have been reacting in the masses to a tweet from Football.London reporter Alasdair Gold after he relayed an Instagram post from Tanguy Ndombele to Twitter.

The matter in question is actually over the future of the £55m club-record signing despite only joining the club in the summer, and Ndombele has taken steps to cool the reported interest in him by posting a highlights reel from his season so far with the translated caption – ‘nothing to report.’

Gold, a reliable Spurs journalist, has seen many a fan in his replies offering their opinions on the Frenchman, who has become a polarising figure amongst the north London support.

Ndombele has featured in 27 matches this season, scoring twice whilst also providing four assists in all competitions – and that’s even when averaging a mere 51 minutes per game, via Transfermarkt.

Money talks: How much did Levy pay for each of these Spurs stars?

Barcelona are the team courting his services, according to Sky Sports, but this message has certainly played down such links.

Here’s what supporters have been saying…

Sheffield Wednesday’s predicted XI vs Charlton Athletic

Sheffield Wednesday are looking to get back on track this afternoon as they face a trip south to face Charlton Athletic at The Valley.

The Owls have suffered a run of five straight matches without a victory having needed to salvage a point in midweek against Birmingham City.

[ad_pod ]

Meanwhile, the Addicks are having a patchy spell themselves due to the injuries manager Lee Bowyer faces at the club. He has over 12 first-team players missing for this one.

Garry Monk needs to make some changes in order to bring more success back to his side, here’s what we are predicting…

A change back to a 4-4-2 system could bear serious fruit for Wednesday.

Not too long ago, the 40-year-old opted for such a formation and they scored four goals inside half an hour against Middlesbrough. This should be enough inspiration to revert back to it this afternoon.

Such a decision would mean a striker spot is up for grabs and given Fernando Forestieri’s impact on Wednesday night, he should be handed an opportunity over Atdhe Nuhiu.

The only other change is an enforced one as Julian Borner faces suspension so skipper Tom Lees should come back into the starting line up – he came on at half-time against Birmingham so he should be good to go.

It means Moses Odubajo will continue at right-back while it is Kieran Lee that makes way for the system change in midfield.

Cameron Dawson is expected to remain between the sticks after veteran goalkeeper Keiren Westwood picked up an injury last weekend.

Schalke have to resist Tottenham Hotspur’s interest in Alexander Nubel

This article is part of Football FanCast’s Transfer Focus series, which provides opinion and analysis on recent transfer news…

According to a new exclusive report coming from talkSPORT, Tottenham Hotspur are keeping tabs on Schalke’s 23-year-old goalkeeper, Alexander Nubel.

But the Germans should make sure their talent doesn’t leave the club just yet.

What’s the word, then?

It seems that Jose Mourinho wants a new goalkeeper in his squad and Nubel, Schalke’s young, up and coming talent, certainly looks like a juicy target for them.

This is reinforced even more with the fact that they are in serious need of another reliable man between the sticks. Hugo Lloris has been struggling with injuries and while Paulo Gazzaniga has held his own between the sticks, he simply hasn’t been as good as they would have hoped, as was explained by talkSPORT in the same report.

[ad_pod ]

Nubel, although young and very much at the beginning of his career, is already captaining his club but could be on his way out seeing how he hasn’t signed a new contract and his current one is slowly but surely running out.

And even though it makes sense for Mourinho to snatch the youngster away, for Schalke it could be disastrous.

An important piece

Needless to say, losing the captain of the ship is never really a good thing.

Schalke have been sturdy this season, having conceded just 15 goals in 12 games with Nubel between the sticks, and the 23-year-old has been a key figure in this development.

[ad_pod ]

Kevin Hatchard showered him with praise when talking to talkSPORT:

“He is the captain of Schalke and a goalkeeper in his early 20s. He is a very good goalkeeper with a [Manuel] Neuer vibe about him. He’s good with his feet, commanding, and he’s got a bit of arrogance about him which I don’t think is a terrible thing.”

Losing him now would definitely be a hugely disappointing blow for the club to take.

Schalke are currently sitting in fifth in the table, level with the team above them and just two points off second-placed Bayern Munich and RB Leipzig.

And while it’s difficult actually seeing them fully contest for the crown, Nubel could play a key part in them making a mark on the Bundesliga this season already.

TalkSPORT don’t make it clear when would Spurs be hoping to snatch him away but either way, the time is not right for him to leave just yet whichever way you look at it.

They’d be wise to make his contract juicier and convince the young goalie to stay.

Meanwhile, many Spurs fans haven’t really been impressed with the club’s recent links with a young defender already plying his trade in England.
