Arthur said that Lyon, who has been ushered gently into Test cricket by Clarke over his first five Tests, would now have more to do.”That’s certainly going to be a role we’re going to need,” Arthur said. “I think our spinner can play that role quite effectively, I thought he bowled beautifully today, so I’m hoping he can play that role, and then we can rotate those guys.”Bowling at the Gabba, overs 0-30 is about getting the ball up and making the ball work for you, 30-60 is the hard work, rolling the sleeves up, hitting back of a length and building pressure, and hopefully 60-80 you can get the ball to reverse. I’m hoping that overs 30-60 the young guys can stand up and build that pressure as much as we need the pressure to be built at that time.”There’s going to be four real young bowlers, Pete Siddle is going to have to lead the attack for us, there’s no doubt about that. I had a chat to him about it this morning and he’s ready for that responsibility. But it is going to be interesting, we’ve got to look at what’s going to be the best attack, and who’s bowling the best and gives us the most variation.”Lyon has never bowled at the Gabba, but can expect to profit from the bounce and occasional turn available to a spin bowler with sufficient discipline. Graeme Swann struggled for traction on the ground in last year’s Ashes Test, but later said that was more to do with bowling badly than not finding any comfort in the surface.”At the Gabba if it’s done a little bit it generally starts a little bit soft, which allows a bit of grip,” Arthur said. “And the one thing a spinner does get is bounce, and spinners thrive on bounce. So they do get bounce here. I’m really hoping he can do the job, I reckon he can.”Siddle agreed the task ahead was as daunting as it would be exciting, guiding bowlers as young and unaffected as he was on his debut against India at Mohali in 2008. Since then, Siddle has fought injuries but also refined his body shape, to be the hardiest if not flashiest member of Australia’s pace battery.”A little bit daunting, thinking these blokes are all so young and all haven’t played, so that does make it a little bit daunting, but it does make it exciting as well,” Siddle said. “To get the opportunity to play with some of these guys that obviously can be the future of Australian cricket, to go out there and hopefully lead them and show them some good things.”I’m looking forward to it … it is going to be tough and nervous for them at the start, but I’m looking forward to being a part of it with them, being able to enjoy it with them. Even last week to be involved with Patty [Cummins] and talk to him at mid off or mid on and just see how he goes about it, I’m very excited about these next few weeks.”Given his knack for away swing, Pattinson appears the most likely debutant to share the new ball, a welcome scenario for Siddle having known the younger man since he was “about 10 years old”.”I’ve played with his brother in club cricket for about 11 years now and I’ve known Jimmy since he was about 10, so he’s been like a little brother to me since I’ve moved down to Melbourne,” Siddle said. “I’ve enjoyed the times I’ve got to play with him for Victoria, so hopefully I do get the chance to get out on the park with him and better yet we could open the bowling together in a Test match, that would be quite amazing.”Among the players at Allan Border Field was a ginger-looking Shaun Marsh, who Arthur said was unlikely to be considered before the Boxing Day Test against India at the MCG.

Ricky Ponting remains vital to the development of Australia’s Test side but cannot keep earning a place in the team based on his reputation, according to the coach Mickey Arthur. As Australia’s batsmen began their batting camp in Melbourne on Tuesday ahead of the Boxing Day Test against India, the selectors were faced with some tough decisions over the make-up of the squad.The batting order was especially fluid, with questions over whether Shane Watson and Shaun Marsh would return from injury, whether Daniel Christian would be squeezed in as an allrounder, and whether the irresistible form of the opener Ed Cowan could be ignored. And while Ponting is expected to play at the MCG, Arthur said nobody was a certainty to take on the Indians.”I don’t think anybody is guaranteed a start,” Arthur said. “Ricky Ponting is really vital to where we want to take this team so we’re really hoping he finds his form and hopefully his form is just around the corner. We’ll discuss that again tonight and make sure we’ve got all our bases covered in terms of selection.”Following Australia’s loss in Hobart, their first defeat at the hands of New Zealand in 18 years, Arthur said he viewed Ponting and Michael Hussey, who are struggling for runs, as important men in the future of the side due to their middle-order experience. And while Arthur still believed they have roles to play, he said both men would need Test runs to continue justifying their selection.”I have backed Ricky Ponting like I’ve backed Mike Hussey for a period of time because I think they’re crucial for the development of the side,” Arthur said. “For our young guys to bat with guys like that is fantastic, but again they need to keep giving us ammunition.”They need to keep giving us performances. Nobody has got a privilege to play in the Australian cricket team. They are the type of characters that we want in our side, most definitely.”Ponting, who turned 37 on Monday, showed glimpses of his previous form when he made 62 in Johannesburg and 78 at the Gabba over the past month, but his dismissals in both innings at Bellerive Oval were clumsy. He walked across his stumps in the first innings and was lbw as he was caught in two minds, and in the second his attempted punch through the off side resulted in a loopy lob to cover.In his past 16 Tests, Ponting has averaged 27.48 and has not scored a century. Arthur said over the next two days at the batting camp in Melbourne, the plan for Ponting was to “free him up” ahead of a series against an Indian attack that could feature Ishant Sharma, the fast bowler who has dismissed Ponting six times from eight Tests.Arthur said while the batsmen would work against the moving ball at the batting camp – a weakness that was again exposed against New Zealand in Hobart – and would face bowling machines designed to replicate Ishant and Zaheer Khan, major technical overhauls were not on the agenda.”This is giving us the best opportunity for us to be in the best possible space for Boxing Day. That’s it,” he said. “We’re not reinventing the wheel in any way, we’re giving our batters the maximum opportunity to get themselves ready to play a Test match starting on Boxing Day. We feel there are one or two things we need to discuss.”We’re also going to have a look at India, we’re going to talk about their attack, talk about what we can expect from them and practice accordingly. It’s certainly no boot camp. It’s giving our batters an opportunity to get themselves into the best possible frame of mind for the 26th.”

O drama de Rodrygo
Assim como foi contra o Flamengo, Rodrygo passou a maior parte do primeiro tempo insistindo em jogadas pela direita do ataque santista, muitas vezes tabelando com Victor Ferraz. Inspirado, o Rayo se viu sozinho diante de um time pouquíssimo criativo. Em determinados lances, seus companheiros pareciam não acompanhar tamanha rapidez de raciocínio.

Com a partida em tese dominada, o Santos passou a abusar dos cruzamentos: foram 24. Apenas três certos.Bolas alçadas na área para muitas vezes um bate-cabeça do próprio ataque: mais centralizados, Sasha e Gabigol pouco se entenderam. Bruno Henrique, mais uma vez, não parecia estar em grande noite.

Craque solitário na equipe, Rodrygo mandou uma cobrança de falta no travessão de João Ricardo. Quase que na sequência do lance, o garoto de 17 anos protagonizou lindo lance e cruzou para Gabriel. Livre de marcação, o camisa 10 errou o alvo e mandou para fora de cabeça.

Quem não faz… Toma!
O América-MG se propôs a jogar por uma bola. E o fez com maestria. Em contra-ataque veloz, Marquinhos invadiu a grande área e ao sentir um encostão de Alison caiu. Rafael Traci, sem pestanejar, assinalou pênalti. Na cobrança, Vanderlei acertou o canto, mas Ruy marcou para o Coelho. Castigo para Alison, um dos mais esforçados em campo.

Inacreditável
Insatisfeito com a derrota, Chulapa promoveu a entrada de Yuri Alberto no intervalo, tirando Sasha, com dores na coxa esquerda, de campo. Com isso, Gabriel ganhou liberdade no ataque e por pouco não marcou no começo da etapa complementar. Melhor para o goleiro João Ricardo que, a queima-roupa, fez uma defesa de cabeça. O problema dos cruzamentos persistiu. Se os acertos aumentaram, a dificuldade foi dos atacantes em anteciparem os zagueiros.

O lance mais inacreditável do jogo ainda estava por vir. No fim, Jean Mota chutou de fora da área e o goleiro deu rebote. Livre e com o gol praticamente aberto, além da opção de tocar para o companheiro ao lado, Yuri Alberto mandou a bola para fora e sentenciou a derrota do Santos.

Reforços que chegaram em boa hora! O América-MG apresentou dois novos jogadores nesta sexta-feira. O zagueiro Paulão e o atacante Wesley Pacheco vestiram o manto de jogo pela primeira vez e foram para coletiva de imprensa no CT Lanna Drumond. Os atletas chegam para fortalecer dois setores do time em momento chave do Campeonato Brasileiro.

Paulão, de 32 anos, atuou pelo Vasco-RJ em cinco partidas da Série A deste ano. O zagueiro também vem de um ótimo desempenho no Brasileiro do ano passado, quando foi titular absoluto na campanha que levou o clube carioca de volta a Copa Libertadores.

– Minha motivação é estar em um grande clube. Já morei por um tempo aqui em Belo Horizonte e sei da grandeza do América. É um Clube forte não somente em Minas Gerais, mas a nível nacional. O projeto que me foi apresentado é muito bom. É um projeto de permanecer na Série A, de ter sempre bons jogadores no elenco. Agora, chega eu e Wesley para que possamos contribuir para essa boa campanha que o América tem feito no Brasileiro. O time vem atuando de uma maneira muito boa, o que certamente motiva qualquer jogador a fazer parte deste projeto. Tem tudo para que o fim do ano seja de muita felicidade para todos nós – declarou Paulão.

Wesley Pacheco chegou ao América depois de se destacar pelo Caxias. O atacante, de 28 anos, demonstrou sua alegria pela confiança depositada pelo América-MG.

-Minha expectativa é enorme, pois eu sinto que estava bem no meu último clube. Então é dar prosseguimento agora no América, com bastante dedicação. Quando entrar em campo, ajudar na marcação e fazer gols também. Minhas características são me posicionar bem, disputar contra os zagueiros, abrir espaço para os meias que vêm de trás fazerem as jogadas. How did Karnataka let Haryana, a surprise quarter-finalist, overwhelm them on their own turf inside three days? K Jeshwanth, the Karnataka coach, said it was primarily a batting failure that led to the six-wicket defeat, which secured Haryana their first semi-final berth since 1990-91.Karnataka were dismissed for 151 in the first innings after they chose to bat. They lasted only 49.5 overs and were destroyed by 21 year-old Harshal Patel, who took 8 for 40. A medium-pacer playing his maiden season, Patel bowled with an upright wrist and seam, and got both movement and bounce from the first-day pitch, forcing edges from Karnataka’s batsmen.The score of 151 was Karnataka’s lowest in completed innings this season. Before this game, Karnataka had four totals in excess of 500, two in excess of 600. Against Haryana, they didn’t even make 300. The six-wicket loss was their first outright defeat.”Obviously the batting,” Jeshwanth said, when asked to explain the reason for defeat. “After making 151, it is difficult to come back. It was not a 150-run pitch. Harshal Patel bowled really well, putting the ball in the right areas. We did fight back – Binny bowled well and Aiyappa showed a lot of heart – but it was always going to be difficult. If we had scored 250 in the first innings – like we did in the second – we would have been able to make a match out of it.”Karnataka had been below full strength for significant parts of the season and Jeshwanth said that had impacted their campaign. Their original new-ball bowlers, Vinay Kumar (also the captain) and Abhimanyu Mithun, were in Australia with the Test squad. Manish Pandey, who hit an unbeaten double century against Mumbai, suffered from hernia. S Aravind, the third quick, was advised four weeks after the penultimate group match because of a knee injury.”The season – Manish Pandey’s absence made a difference to our batting, and three bowlers were also missing,” Jeshwanth said. “We had expected to reach the final, so it is a disappointment. Haryana is a team we were supposed to beat. We were also unlucky in this match; everything our batsmen missed took the edge.”The problem was with the batsmen getting out after getting set. We thought we had overcome it when we crossed 500 in the last match (against Uttar Pradesh).” In Shimoga, after conceding the first-innings lead to UP, the Karnataka middle order comprising Ganesh Satish, Amit Verma and Stuart Binny converted their starts into big hundreds. Against Haryana, they did not manage even a fifty.The other problem for Karnataka was their batsmen’s inability to convert starts. Robin Uthappa, Karnataka’s top scorer, failed to anchor both innings. On Monday, after the first drinks break, Uthappa was caught off a ball that pitched marginally outside off stump and angled away from him. In the second innings, after he had hit an aggressive fifty, Uthappa played across to a delivery that nipped back in to trap him lbw. On the third day, Binny gave it away by holing out to mid-on while attempting an ambitious loft.Amit Mishra, the Haryana captain, was pleased to cash in on Karnataka’s weakness. “At the end of day two the match was evenly poised. But we knew that the pressure was on Karnataka to not lose wickets quickly, but at the same time score runs in quick time,” he said. “So our aim was always not give away any easy runs and we stuck to our plan. We were confident of chasing down any target between 150-170 and we eventually managed to do that.”

Outra ação que o Atlético-PR tem feito é um preço promocional para quem adquirir os ingressos de forma antecipada, tanto pela internet quanto nas bilheterias.

وأعلن يورجن كلوب تشكيل ليفربول لمواجهة كريستال بالاس، حيث لم يتواجد نونيز، سواء في القائمة الأساسية أو البدلاء، وكذلك جو جوميز.

وقال كلوب في تصريحات لشبكة “سكاي سبورتس” العالمية: “كلاهما مصابان، خاصة أن نونيز كان يعاني من مشكلة في الكتف في مباراة نيوكاسل”.

وأضاف: “لقد نجح الأمر معه أمام ريال مدريد، ولكن بعد ذلك تعرض لضربة أخرى هناك، وشعر بالإصابة مجددًا وبشكل أكبر، لذا لم تكن هناك فرصة له اليوم”.

واختتم: “آمل أن يتمكن من العودة في منتصف الأسبوع مرة أخرى”.
